Savoury Chicken and Sweet Potato Biscuits
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken (boiled or roasted, without bones or seasoning)
- 1 cup cooked and mashed sweet potato
- 1/4 cup bone broth (dog friendly with no added salt or spices)
- 2 cups buckwheat flour*
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley (optional, for added flavour)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a tray sheet with baking paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed sweet potato, flour and oats and egg. Mix well to create a smooth mixture.
- Add the bone broth and coconut oil to the mixture. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined. The bone broth may add some moisture, so adjust the flour as needed to achieve the right dough consistency.
- Stir in the chicken and parsley (if using).
- If using, add the finely chopped fresh parsley to the dough and mix it in thoroughly. The parsley will add a hint of freshness and flavour.
- Roll out the dough and use a cookie cutter or push the mixture into an muffin tray, filling each about halfway.
- Place the biscuits on the prepared baking tray, leaving a bit of space between them.
- Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for approximately 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the biscuits from the oven and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack before feeding them to your furry friend.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze them for longer shelf life.
Adding bone broth to the recipe will make these biscuits even more nutritious and appealing to your dog. Remember to use bone broth without any added salt, spices or seasonings as some ingredients can be harmful to dogs.
* If you don't have buckwheat flour, other dog safe flours such as lentil, coconut and barley flour.
Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1/2 cup dog peanut butter (without xylitol or added sugars)
- 1/2 cup coconut flour *
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 2 tsp water (as needed)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a tray sheet with baking paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed banana and peanut butter. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Add the rolled oats and coconut flour to the bowl. Mix until the oats and flour are combined.
- If needed, add water or more flour to get your mixture to a dough-like consistency
- Take small portions of the mixture and flatten them into small discs to make mini cookies. Or you can roll out the mixture and use a cookie cutter.
- Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until brown.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
These treats are quick to make and sure to be a hit with your canine companion. Be sure to double check that the peanut butter is xylitol free.

Chicken and Zucchini Training Treats
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of buckwheat flour*
- 1/2 cup of cooked, shredded chicken
- 1/2 cup of grated zucchini, squeezed to remove excess water
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C.
- In a bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, squeezed grated zucchini, egg, and applesauce.
- Gradually add the flour to the wet mixture and stir until it forms a soft dough.
- Roll the dough into small, pea-sized balls and place them on a tray lined with baking paper. If the dough is too sticky, dust your hands with a bit of flour.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the treats are firm to the touch.
- Allow the treats to cool completely before giving them to your dog.
These treats should be small enough to use as quick rewards during training sessions. Remember to adjust your dog's meals if you're using a lot of treats to ensure they're not consuming too many calories.
*If you find the mixture too runny, add some more flour!
Hearty Pumpkin & Turkey Bites
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cooked and mashed pumpkin
- 1/2 cup cooked and shredded turkey (you can also use chicken or lean ground beef)
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup grated carrot
- 1/4 cup chopped cooked green beans
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a tray with baking paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin, shredded turkey, rolled oats, grated carrot, and chopped green beans. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Add the beaten egg and coconut oil to the mixture. Mix until the ingredients form a dough-like consistency.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 5mm thickness.
- Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut the dough into bite-sized pieces or use cookie cutters
- Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a bit of space between them.
- Bake the treats in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through and slightly crispy.
- Remove the treats from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, these hearty pumpkin and turkey bites are ready!
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week
Chicken and Berry Treats
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of coconut or lentil flour
- 1 cup of cooked, shredded chicken
- 1/2 cup of chopped strawberries
- 1/2 cup of chopped blueberries
- 1/2 cup of cooked, mashed sweet potato
- 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 180°C.
- In a bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, strawberries, mashed sweet potato, eggs, and applesauce.
- Gradually add the flour to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough out on a surface to about a 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use a cookie cutter to cut out the treats and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the treats are firm and golden brown.
- Allow them to cool completely before giving to your dog.
